The curriculum emphasis for Physical Education is made up of lifetime activities and team sports. Students may select from the fitness options listed below. We would like to direct our students toward activities that will be of interest and value to them the remainder of their lives.

Fitness 1

The primary emphasis of this freshman only class is on team games and building lifelong fitness habits. Units covered include, but are not limited to, soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and softball with an emphasis on personal fitness. Cardiovascular fitness and strength development are integrated daily.

Indoor Soccer

This course is designed for the avid soccer player.  Students will develop their soccer skills and compete in tournament play over the course of the semester. Expect to primarily play indoor soccer with intermittent outdoor games.

This in an entry level Strength and Conditioning class designed for any student interested in learning the beginning techniques of weight training.  Students will participate in a structured free weight program designed to increase strength and fitness levels.  No weight training experience is needed.

Women’s Strength & Conditioning

This female only weight training class was developed to train and promote the specific needs of the female body and mind. Throughout the semester students will participate in a "free weight" strength training program specifically designed for their fitness goals with emphasis on building strength and increasing confidence. No weight training experience is needed.

Advanced Strength & Conditioning

This course is designed for athletes and/or experienced weight training students who thrive in a higher intensity, competitive environment. We utilize a structured sport specific, free weight training program that will allow the athlete to gain strength, be more explosive and more efficient with bio-mechanics.  Power lifts are taught in this class. This class is designed for but not limited to our high school athletes. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Fitness 1 or on an Athletic Team.

Zero Period Strength & Conditioning

This advanced strength and conditioning class is for athletes only and held everyday, before the normal school day begins. Therefore, students must provide their own transportation. It is designed for the athlete that thrives in a higher intensity, competitive environment.  Student-athletes will participate in weight training sessions as well as speed, agility, and quickness sessions.  Teacher approval is required to join this class.

Individualized Fitness
Course ID: 0801441
This course is primarily for students in grades 11-12 that need physical education credit, and/or have extenuating circumstances that do not allow for participation in a school sanctioned PE class. This is an online class where students are expected to use Google Classroom, design, implement, and complete an individualized fitness plan that accumulates 65 hours of exercise over the semester. All activities need to be instructor approved and students may not log hours while engaging in a school sanctioned sport or when practicing a sport in season.

Yoga and Wellbeing

This class introduces students to the physical practice and benefits of yoga with emphasis on building skills for emotional-regulation, mindfulness and stress management, and personal wellness.

Integrated PE/Unified Sports

Integrated PE is part of the Unified Sports program. Students with and without physical and/or intellectual disabilities partner on a team for Soccer, Basketball and Track. Practices during class time. Competitions during afternoons or evenings.
