Fitness 1

The primary emphasis of this freshman only class is on team games and building lifelong fitness habits. Units covered include, but are not limited to, soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and softball with an emphasis on personal fitness. Cardiovascular fitness and strength development are integrated daily.

Fitness for a Lifetime

This class is designed to help students build healthy habits and a positive self-image through consistent, low-impact physical activity. The course emphasizes the benefits of walking as a lifelong fitness practice while also introducing basic strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular activities in a variety of environments (gym, track, outdoors).

Prerequisites:
Successful completion of Fitness 1 or 10th grade standing
This class is for the person who wants to continue participation in a wide variety of sports, games, and fitness endeavors. The emphasis is on court, field, and net activities. Through various games, matches, and contests, students will be immersed in a fun and competitive environment. Fitness training is included to improve body composition, bone density, and muscular endurance.

Indoor Soccer

This course is designed for the avid soccer player.  Students will develop their soccer skills and compete in tournament play over the course of the semester. Expect to primarily play indoor soccer with intermittent outdoor games.

Strength & Conditioning

This in an entry level Strength and Conditioning class designed for any student interested in learning the beginning techniques of weight training.  Students will participate in a structured free weight program designed to increase strength and fitness levels.  No weight training experience is needed.

Prerequisites:
Successful completion of Fitness 1 or 10th grade standing
This female only weight training class was developed to train and promote the specific needs of the female body and mind. Throughout the semester students will participate in a "free weight" strength training program specifically designed for their fitness goals with emphasis on building strength and increasing confidence. No weight training experience is needed.

Advanced Strength & Conditioning

This course is designed for athletes and/or experienced weight training students who thrive in a higher intensity, competitive environment. We utilize a structured sport specific, free weight training program that will allow the athlete to gain strength, be more explosive and more efficient with bio-mechanics.  Power lifts are taught in this class. This class is designed for but not limited to our high school athletes.

This advanced strength and conditioning class is for athletes only and held everyday, before the normal school day begins. Therefore, students must provide their own transportation. It is designed for the athlete that thrives in a higher intensity, competitive environment.  Student-athletes will participate in weight training sessions as well as speed, agility, and quickness sessions.  Teacher approval is required to join this class.

Yoga and Wellbeing
Course ID: 0500341
This class introduces students to the physical practice and benefits of yoga with emphasis on well-being. We practice tools for emotional-regulation, mindfulness and stress management, and personal wellness. Goals include greater strength, flexibility, and focus. Ideal for student-athletes seeking active recovery and all students seeking low-cardio strength and flexibility training, community, and practices that grow with you over time. May take more than once for credit.

Unified Sports

The Unified Sports program provides the opportunity for students with and without physical and/or intellectual disabilities to partner on a team for Soccer, Basketball and Track. Practices during class time. Competitions during afternoons or evenings.
