In Sources of Strength, peer leaders harness social networks to create healthy norms and culture in their school community, ultimately preventing suicide, violence, bullying, and substance misuse. In this class, students create and facilitate school wide initiatives related to wellbeing and school culture, helping their community develop and identify their own pillars of strength. Students learn how to plan and deliver effective prevention messages about hope, help, and strength. Students gain skills in research, advocacy, public speaking, content creation and media, event planning, budgeting, networking ,and how to make lasting change within a community. May take more than once for credit.
Grades: 9-12
