Regular attendance is key to academic, social, and emotional success. Missing even one class on the A/B Block Schedule makes it hard to catch up. Repeated absences from the same class can seriously impact progress. Students are expected to take responsibility for their attendance.

Excused VS Unexcused Absences

Excused absences include:

  • Illness or injury

  • Family travel (necessary)

  • Quarantine

  • Bereavement

  • Medical/legal appointments

  • Weather emergencies

  • Religious instruction

  • Educational or job interviews

Parents must notify the school before the absence via:
📞 503.565.4208 or
📧 MHS-Attendance@msd.k12.or.us

Homework can be found in Google Classroom or requested from teachers.

Unexcused absences are those not meeting the criteria above. The school determines the absence type.

Truancy and Daytime Curfew
Students must attend school from 8:30 AM – 3:25 PM. Being off-campus during these hours (except lunch) without permission is a curfew violation.

Violations result in:

  • Return to school by police or staff

  • Parent notification

  • Letter from the juvenile department

  • Possible referral to Peer Court or other disciplinary action

Repeat offenses may lead to alternative education placement.
