A required pre-requisite for all drawing or painting courses, Exploratory 2D provides an introduction to drawing techniques in a variety of media, the use of the elements and principles of design, and art appreciation.

An introductory class to clay. Students will learn the 3 methods of hand building while producing 3D art. The focus of this class will be the expressive qualities of 3D art and art appreciation used in conjunction with 3D art production.

This second level course will further develop drawing skills through the use of a variety of mediums. Students will continue to explore the elements and principles of design, composition, and subject matter with added depth. Prerequisite: C or above in Exploratory Art - 2D

This is a third level course for students who are serious about developing his or her artistic voice, technical and expressive skills in drawing. A range of media and techniques will be explored including a more in depth study of the figure and an introduction to various forms of printmaking. Prerequisite: C or above in Drawing 1.

A second level course, Painting will introduce students to the technical and aesthetic principles of acrylic and watercolor painting. Students will also learn to build their own canvas and explore a variety of subject matter. C or above in Exploratory Art—2D

Further exploration of concepts and techniques in watercolor and acrylic paint. Representational and abstract painting approaches will be investigated. Students will be led to a more individualized and conceptual understanding of art and their own work. Prerequisite: C or above in Painting

This is an introductory course to the potter's wheel. It is designed to provide the students with competencies on creating clay vessels, and further exploration of glazing techniques. Prerequisite: C or above in Exploratory Art - 3D

This course provided a basic laboratory to practice and develop the skill of throwing on the potter's wheel, hand building techniques, and exploration into the different shapes and forms that are possible in clay. Prerequisite: C or above in Ceramics 1.

This course is an advanced study in clay art. Students will work on individual projects with a specific design focus. Students will work towards creating a ceramics portfolio. Prerequisite: C or above in Ceramics 2.

This course is an advanced study in clay art. Students will work on individual projects; research past and present cultures, and produce works with those cultural influences. Production will include all art theories and design concepts. Prerequisite: C or above in Ceramics 3.

This course is an advanced study in clay art allowing additional studio and instruction time for students who have completed all previous levels of ceramics courses.

The AP Art and Design course framework presents an inquiry based approach to learning about and making art and design. Students are expected to conduct an in-depth, sustained investigation of materials, processes, and ideas. Students will have ample opportunity to display work and submit a formal 20 image portfolio in May. Prerequisite: C or above or concurrently enrolled in three 2D arts courses

This is a summer service learning opportunity for art pathway students. Students design and install public art as community service during the summer break. Twenty or more hours will earn a student 0.25 credits. Prerequisite: C or higher in Exploratory Art—2D

The Visual Arts Internship offers aspiring artists a chance to develop their skills and gain real-world experience under the guidance of a seasoned professional artist from Yamhill County. Over the course of the internship, participants will receive 24 hours of dedicated mentorship, allowing for personalized instruction, hands-on projects, and in-depth discussions about artistic techniques, career paths, and the creative process. Prerequisite: Successful completion or concurrent enrollment Adv. Draw, Adv. Painting, Ceramics 3+, or AP Studio Art.
