This class is a continuation of Accounting 2. Students will study topics related to departmentalized business, adjustments and valuation, corporation accounting, and management accounting and manufacturing cost accounting. Students will also begin learning QuickBooks in this course.
Introduces students to the basic principles of marketing. Students will learn the marketing mix (4 P’s), target market, and selling. They will also develop a promotional campaign for a new product or innovation. Individual & group projects incorporated.
Using the principles of marketing, students will learn foundational elements such as social media for business, paid social media advertising, and campaign planning. Through a social media marketing simulation, students take on the role of social media marketing manager—writing targeted social media ads, performing demographic targeting, and learning content promotion strategies & proper content scheduling. Will complete a Social Media Marketing certification.
Stresses the utilization of fundamental marketing concepts as they relate to the quickly growing Sports & Entertainment Marketing industries. Strategies related to sponsorship, pricing, marketing research, endorsements, and promotions will be covered through the implementation of a sports & entertainment event.
Sports Marketing 2 students use their prior even experience to take on a leadership role for the next event. This will include creation of event materials, leading student teams, and focusing on a specialized area (e.g. promotion, partnerships, social media, community connections, fan experience, etc.).
Students will study how the principles of marketing relate to the hospitality and tourism industries. Focusing specifically on our unique location, we will examine current issues affecting the industries, future trends, and changing demographics and lifestyles in our area. Discusses economic factors of our local area, and the key costs and benefits of a tourism economy. Uses examples of hospitality and tourism practices and attributes in promotion of Yamhill County businesses.
Students will have the opportunity to concentrate on their particular career objective such as apparel and accessories, promotion design, visual merchandising, menu options, social media, or financial tracking. Classwork will support the MHS student-run enterprise, the Main Street Market.
Students will be given management responsibilities in the Main Street Market or work on individual marketing projects. Students will be scheduled independently to fit the needs of the Main Street Market and the individual student. May take more than once for credit. Prerequisite: 2.5 Pathway Credits, including Principles of Marketing.
