Introduction to Education

Students will participate in a combination of activities reflecting on the role of educators in today’s society. Additionally they will examine current issues in education, such as trauma informed care.

Students will develop educational philosophies through deeper examination of students’ needs and how to address those needs while planning a lesson.

Education Intern 1

This course will provide the opportunity for experience in a school-based or community setting to students who are considering teaching as a profession. The student will maintain a journal of their experiences and insights throughout the semester.

This course is similar to Education Intern 1, although the student will be required to complete an internship at a different level than their first internship. May take more than once for credit.

This course will provide the opportunity for experience in a school-based setting to students who are considering teaching as a profession. The student will attend all five of the elementary science field trips throughout the school year. The student will maintain a journal of their experiences and insights throughout the field trips.

Coaching in Education

This course will participate in a combination of activities reflecting on the role of coaches in education. Students will develop coaching philosophies through deeper examination of students’ needs and how to address those needs while planning a practice. Additionally they will examine current issues in coaching and education. Prerequisite: Completion of Introduction to Education or 10th grade and above standing.
