Construction
The Construction Career Pathway program is designed to help students develop the technical qualifications and life skills needed to begin a career in the construction industry. The pathway includes both courses in construction and in welding. Students will take part in real-life applications, learn valuable skills surrounding power tools, and have opportunities to design independent projects and learning goals during their senior year.

Woodworking 1

Students in this beginning woodworking class will start off with one assigned project. The student will select his/her project from several different plans. These plans are simple in nature and will take approximately two to four weeks to complete.

Math in Construction

This course looks at how math is used in the construction trades. Students will learn the math needed for each step of the building process and then go out and build it.
Woodworking 2

This course is a continuation of Woodworking 1, and students will work on individual projects of their choosing. The instructor will take into consideration the student's skill level, size of the project, and the ability to finish the project on time.

An extension and continuation of woodworking 1/2. As student skills and confidence grow a wider variety of projects can be made. Typical projects for this level of student can include but are not limited to indoor/outdoor furniture, entertainment centers and other advanced projects. Students who are in fabrication often utilize both skillsets creating projects out of metal and art.

Students will work on individual projects and will have the opportunity to work on projects for the school and the community. Students will be encouraged to design and build projects for themselves and others and will become competent in developing procedures, cost estimation and principles of design.

This class will focus on basic framing skills. Students will cut and frame walls, window/door openings, floor systems and basic gable roof framing. Students will also learn different sheeting strategies as well as an introduction to reading blueprints.

Construction 2 will focus on cabinet/furniture building. Students will design and estimate cost and materials for individual cabinet project. Students will learn about jointery methods such as pocket jointery and daddo jointery. Students may also learn about door and drawer design depending on cabinet requirements. Different finishing techniques and hardware choices will also be explored.
