SAT/ACT Exams
We encourage college bound students to take their first SAT/ACT exam spring of their junior year and then follow-up with one or more early their senior year.

Most colleges and universities accept both exams, but students should research their attending or prospective college/s to see their test preference.

All test registration is completed on-line and most SAT/ACT exams are administered at McMinnville High School. Test fees apply.

Important information:
Name on Registration - It is important that when you create your account and register for the exam that you use your full legal name. The name on your admission ticket (which you will need to print at the end of registration) needs to match the name on the photo ID you will use on the day of exam. We see this issue a lot with students with two last names. You may use your school ID, so check it to see how your name appears.

Payment - There is a fee to take the SAT/ACT but there are fee waivers available, (see information below). Payment needs to be made online using a debit/credit card at the time of registration. You are able to start, save and continue the registration at a later time. It is important that you research the schools you are interested in applying to.  Some may require that you take the writing/essay portion of the SAT/ACT and make sure you include the schools you want to receive your scores at the time of registration. You can add schools after you have taken the exam but it can delay the admission process.

Fee Waiver - You may qualify for a fee waiver for the SAT/ACT. If you think you qualify please complete the MSD Income Verification form (printed copies available in the Main Office and College & Career Center). Once completed please return to Mrs. Brandt in Bookkeeping at the Main Office. Then you will see Mr. Newton in the Counseling Center for the fee waiver.

Practice Tests - You can practice for free for SAT, ACT and/or Accuplacer,  through CIS (login instructions here. Once logged in hover over My Portfolio - then click on LearningExpress under Helpful Tools), March2Success (SAT/ACT) and Khan Academy. There are other online practice tests, but may have a fee.

AP Exams
Advanced Placement (AP) exams are offered for McMinnville High School AP courses.  Many colleges/universities may give students college credit or advanced standing in the subject if a student receives qualifying scores (3 - 5).

Students must take the AP test in order to receive AP credit on their high school transcript.  Test fees may apply.
