School Community

State of Grizzly Nation

We know that yesterday was as disappointing and heart breaking for our students and McMinnville community as it was for our high school staff to see that the school we take so much pride in had been vandalized late Sunday night. It’s equally disappointing and heartbreaking that some are going to have to learn a serious lesson the hard way as a result of this extremely bad choice. What became so clear last week during Unity Week, however, is that in the aftermath of the struggle, the joy, hope, and resolve often emerge and rise up even stronger.

And although this crime (unrelated to last week’s events) wasn't directed specifically at our school, these individuals chose the wrong institution on which to convey their hate if they wanted someone to simply respond by defeatedly moving forward in despair. We are so grateful for our school community—for students taking pride in their school, for students showing love for their peers, for students showing dedication to their education, and for students willing to speak up when things don't look or sound right.

Because of this inspiring resolve (and the resolve of all who love our kids) our campus has returned to its beautiful state, and we were able to find the individuals responsible for this act. Thank you for making the good and beautiful louder than the those who would wish to silence it.
