After-School Programs

After-School Programs

Kids on the Block (KOB) After-school Enrichment is offered by the City of McMinnville Parks & Recreation Department in collaboration with the McMinnville School District. The program gives first through fifth grade students a safe, fun place to be after school ends.

The program includes three activity rotations each day: Creation Station, Fit Zone and STEM & Strategy. Children also enjoy a healthy snack, a bit of quiet time for reading or homework, and a brief period of outside free time on the playground each day. Every few weeks, a special guest visits to provide additional fun and enrichment for KOB Kids.

Enrollment opens in mid-July. Space is limited. For more information about the KOB registration process, program calendar, daily schedule, payment plans, financial assistance, and part-time employment, please visit the KOB page on the City of McMinnville website.

A supplemental program, Success Now! is offered by invitation and is part of the after-school program. Success Now! provides students with the opportunity to work on mastering the skills and concepts they need to meet the standards of their grade level.

Afterschool programs funded by the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant:

In 2018, the McMinnville School District won a $2.4 million five-year grant to launch a before- and after-school slate of programming for pre-k through 12th grade student. Dubbed "STEAM Ahead: Makerspaces are Creative Places," the programs are designed to improve student achievement. Click here to read more about the STEAM Ahead initiative.

Other after-school programs include Homework Help and student clubs. Click here for a list of McMinnville High School clubs and afterschool offerings.
